... and more... so you leave nourished, re-inspired and strengthened in your capacity to 'be the change'... and to inspire and empower others to do likewise.
Reconnecting & Deepening:
Practices for Sustainable Leadership
- a BTCI training event
Once you have awakened to the realities of the condition of our planet and our human family – to the depth of the global crisis and the scale of the opportunity – you can’t go back. But how do you go forward? How do you…
|
In Re-connecting and Deepening: Practices for Sustainable Leadership, we will come together in a beautiful place, with like-hearted people, to explore these questions and develop our capacity for the 4 Rs: Resilience, Relationship, Reflection and Reverence*, sharing traditional and new practices, through profound and holistic processes.
A word about "Leadership": if you have a vision of what's possible and are doing anything at all towards making it reality, if you lead your life with intention … you are a "leader". As our concept of leadership changes from taking power to inspiring and empowering others, we need to grow our capacity to nurture ourselves in this role. We need to also learn the art of Receiving (our 5th R) the support available to us from the community and environment around us.
Our indigenous elders tell us “we are the ones we have been waiting for”. What that means, and how we step up to that role, is our exploration. Engaging body, heart and mind guided by rational and intuitive wisdom, we will bring together multi-media, creative arts, movement and profound psychological processes to enhance our ability to thrive as leaders.
This training will appeal to all those who want to deepen their leadership presence and raise their effectiveness and contribution towards a socially just, environmentally sustainable and personally fulfilling future for all.
"The great work of our times, I would say, is moving the human community from its present situation as a destructive presence on the planet to a benign or mutually enhancing presence. It’s that simple." – Thomas Berry
Costs & Accommodation
The tuition fee for the two day course will be £320. This represents the real cost of presenting the training. For those who truly cannot afford the full amount but have a passion to pursue the work, we have budgeted for a limited number of places at £270 for those who are on a low income or have already completed a BTCI/ATD Facilitator Training. Please use your judgement if applying for the reduced prices - places are allocated at the discretion of the training team. If you are not allocated a place, your payment will be returned in full.
Food and accommodation for the two days costs £95 for shared accommodation and all meals (incl dinner on Friday but not on Sunday) and hot drinks and snacks. All food is organic and vegetarian. There is a limited number of rooms with ensuite facilities (£10 extra) - and, depending on numbers, there may be some single rooms available at £20 extra). Once you have booked and paid for the course and standard accommodation, we can then put you in touch with Earth Spirit, should you wish to book either of these options; it is also possible to camp. We strongly recommend staying onsite, which
past attendees have found to be an important contributor to the
experience. However, should you wish to commute, please contact Jon
(below) to discuss.
For more about the venue please see www.earthspirit-centre.co.uk
Dates, times and requirements:
The training itself will start at 6pm on Friday evening, April 1, and will end around 4pm on Sunday evening, April 3. Further preparatory material and logistical details will be sent to you during the weeks leading up to the training.
You are also warmly invited to two optional events on the days immediately before and after the training:
Please indicate when booking if you would be interested in attending one or both of these events. You do not need to commit to either at this stage, but the level of interest from training attendees will be one factor in the decision whether or not to run them!

Training Team
Bernadette Ryder (lead trainer)
Bernadette has worked in training, group facilitation and community development for 25 years. From 6 years establishing sustainable resettlement projects with refugees in sub-Saharan Africa, to several years in UK multicultural inner-city areas and peripheral housing estates, she has empowered numerous grass roots initiatives including Credit Unions, the establishment of a local Development Trust, community businesses and local youth facilities. Endlessly fascinated by the role of the intuitive right brain processes in our experience, she has developed a deep understanding of their function in learning and our capacity to effect change; both in ourselves and the world around us. Accordingly she brings an holistic approach to training including physical and emotional experience in the group process. With an irreverent appetite for fun, she is herself a dancer, a singer, an artist and a meditator. Bernadette is a founder director of DMAC UK in Bristol.
Hetty Einzig (lead trainer)
Hetty has worked with individuals, teams and groups, coaching and running leadership programmes, as a coach for 15 years, prior to that 10 years as a psychotherapist. She works holistically from a systems perspective to engage people with deeper purpose and transformation. People's courage and care continue to inspire her. Hetty is a Senior Consultant with Performance Consultants International. Prior to this she was the founding director of the Parenting Forum (now Parenting UK); she has worked as a journalist, TV presenter, ran an art gallery and written several books and articles, recently on Transpersonal Coaching with John Whitmore for Excellence in Coaching: the Industry Guide. Hetty is a director of Be The Change Consulting.
Jon Ralls (organiser & mentee trainer)
Jon Ralls organises and supports trainings and workshops, alongside internet consultancy and other communications-related work. He wrote and taught a Holistic/New Economics MSc module at the (then) Edinburgh-based Centre for Human Ecology, edited a financial sector executive journal, and worked in the City of London as an institutional investment management marketing consultant. Jon has qualifications in natural sciences, economics, banking and information science, and pursues parallel and connected passions for dance, consciousness studies and music. Jon is also a director of Be The Change Initiative.
David Taylor, EarthSpirit (venue host)
David Taylor, owner of EarthSpirit Centre and himself a trained Be The Change Symposium facilitator, is kindly supporting this training. As well as running EarthSpirit and now co-owning La Terre Cafe in Glastonbury, David has been a leading figure in the Green Party for many years. A number of Be The Change trainings have been held at EarthSpirit over the last few years, and we are delighted to be returning to this wonderful venue.
